Bloodclaim Graphics Poll v2 - open until 23.59pm GMT March 22nd
16th-Mar-2011 12:50 am
bc mod [literati]
Almost six years ago, I posted a poll here to decide whether or not banners should be allowed above the lj-cut. The majority of votes were for a flat 'no', and so the rules were amended accordingly. Since then, only 2 or 3 teaser icons for graphics posts have been allowed, but in recent months, I've been turning a blind eye as banners have slowly started appearing again.

As broadband has become more prevalent, and graphics have become more commonplace, I decided it was time to ask the question(s) again. (I am foregoing an lj-cut to make sure as many people see this as possible. Apologies for any inconvenience.)

... not really with what you mean - picture of with/without so that one has comparison?... if you mean like it is... well - Its okay like that - much bigger and I'd rather not.. Or something.

junnights the banner usually represents or illustrates the story, by comparison an icon is 100x100 pixels. The max 'writing' width of BC is about 600 pixels. If a larger image is posted it hangs off the side, pushes icons out of place and messes up the layout of the community.

ah, misunderstanding on my part then.. happens WAY too often... those are nice. Think it was the talk of 'lj cut' that threw me off... (wondered if you were going to put huge and different banners at the top of the page...) or something. Too big a picture is not good... but an option to 'click to enlarge' is brilliant... Dunno about the sizes though... pictures aren't really something I work with, pixels or otherwise.... but I'll vote 'post it' though..

'Little for large' teaser pics are not usually banners and are no bigger as a rule than icons. Banners normally appear at the heading of a story in an LJ and usally as large as the poster wants.

hmm..:) thanks (both) - seen banners thats been made a little smaller though... not as much as icon size..

For it - I think - :P as long as any Adult banners aren't part of it... Also - while I love banners - sometimes I use slow computers... which would make an option of NOT having a banner ideal... (txt dokument?)...

Most people who post here link back to their journals where they can display banners as they want, so what purpose does it serve putting banners above the cut? It takes up more room on the community and on Fpages and some that have been posted have not featured either Xander or Spike. On an open community is it really wise to risk someone mistakenly posting an NC17 banner?

As long as the banners are safe for work and don't stretch out my friends page, I'm OK with them.
