Disclaimer: I own Nothing, I mean no harm. Beta’d by debris_k all remaining mistakes are my own.
Summary: Xander wakes to remember that some dreams come true. Third and final part in my Xander’s Haven ficlette trilogy!

The soft menace of your presence
Consumes me like a flame
Giving me warmth and safety
To hold back the chill
To comfort me in the knowledge
That your ferocity is my haven

Xander lay awake in the quiet atmosphere of predawn and luxuriated in the cool strong arms that surrounded him. For the first time in what felt like forever he felt completely safe and well cared for, and he could hardly believe that this was real and not some wistful fantasy. After all, it was pretty much unheard of for Xander to actually get something that he so desperately wanted.

Even though it had nearly been three months since Spike had shown up out of the blue to announce Xander belonged to him and then arbitrarily crawling into bed to steal all of the covers, he still woke up sometimes thinking it had all been a dream. When that happened, like now, he would wake up in a cold sweat and all but choking on the despair that had so often tried to consume him, until Spike would tighten his hold and whisper soothing words in his ear.

Because this wasn’t a dream, Spike was really here, with Xander pulled tight against his body, head tucked neatly beneath his chin. Xander had never been more contented than he was at that moment, nose buried in the curve of the vampire’s shoulder and breathing in the oddly relaxing scent of leather, smoke and old copper. Knowing that all of Spike’s often vicious possessiveness and ferocious demeanor were now completely focused on him was the most comforting thing Xander had ever felt.

With one final deep breath Xander allowed his sense of peace to fill up all of the empty places in his soul, before being pulled down into sleep, where he happily dreamt of things that had already come true.
