It's set before Spike gets chipped; Xander starts having dreams about a guy that looks just like Spike, but they're set in the previous century. Eventually they figure out that Xander is the reincarnation of a friend of William's that died around the same time William was turned. Anyone recognize this? *looks hopeful*
