Halfway To Columbia ~ Part 6

Title: Halfway To Columbia
Rating: R
Author: kitty_alex
Fandom: Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Pairings: Spike/Xander
Disclaimer: I own nothing but the plot. I bend to Joss Whedon's will and try my best not to murder his characters.
Summary: What if Buffy had to go out and look for Cordy and Oz instead of looking for Xander and Willow when Spike kidnaps them.
Warnings: It's AU. Xander gets vamped and there is A LOT character death. Plus some not so pretty torture. Also, I'm not good at typing British accents, so use your imagination when reading for Spike.
Previous Chapters: You can find previous chapters here

Xander burst through the doors at Crawford Street. Angel looked over him. He never liked the boy, but he always hung around Buffy so dealing with him was usually a must. The boy breathed heavily like he had run for miles. Something seemed off about him, but Angel couldn’t put his finger on it.

“Buffy,” Xander breathed. “Spike, he’s-”

Angel grew alarmed; he had thought it was odd that he hadn’t seen Buffy for almost three days now.

“What happened? Does Spike have Buffy?”

Xander shook his head, “No, he killed Buffy.”

“He killed her?”

Anger flashed in his eyes. That bastard. How could he have killed her? She was ten times better than him. Angel punched the wall and watched it crack.

“You might want to save your strength, Deadboy. He has Willow, Giles, Oz, and Cordy captive. He says he wants to challenge you for control of the Hellmouth. Whatever that means. He said if I didn’t take you to him, he’d kill everyone.” Xander grabbed Angel’s shirt. “You can’t let him kill them.”

Angel glared at Xander. “No cross this time?”

“I already did the whole cross thing; it would be a little cliché if I did it again.”

“Take me to Spike.”

Xander motioned for Angel to follow and he did. He led him out of the mansion and into the night. Angel kept staring at Xander, he couldn’t tell. There was just something off about him. After what seemed like hours of going around in circles, Xander finally led him into an abandoned warehouse. It was completely dark and even with his vampire senses he could only sense brief movement on the upper levels of the warehouse.

“We’re here,” Xander called out.

Angel could hear doors all over the warehouse slam close and lock. Angel growled at Xander who was looking very pleased with himself. The lights came on and Angel looked around. All around the second floor of the building were vampires, scores and scores of vampires, it seemed like almost every vampire in Sunnydale had turned up for whatever event Xander had set up.

“What’s going on Xander?” Angel asked him.

“We’re taking over.”

Angel heard Spike’s voice and looked around widely for him. Spike slipped out of the shadows, a teenage girl following close behind him. Her dirty blonde hair was shoulder length and her eyes were dark and power hungry.

“Amy, I thought I told you to stay out of sight,” Xander said to her.

“I changed my mind. I want my ultimate power now.”

“Good things come to those who wait,” the annoyance showing in Xander’s voice.

“I don’t care. I did your spells and made it so he wouldn’t be able to detect you. I want my ultimate power.”

Xander growled and shifted into this demon features. He swiftly grabbed Amy and sank his fangs into her neck. He drained her quickly and tossed her body to the side. He stared at the limp thing and ripped her arms off for good measures. The crowd above them roared happily. Xander bowed and began climbing up a few boxes set to the side.

“What’s going on?” Angel asked Spike.

“Let my childe explain, he set the whole thing up just for you, Deadboy.”

“He set this up?”

“Yeah, his exact words were ‘I want to put that fucking bastard in his place, right in front of everyone. I want to make him feel as low as he made me feel when I was alive.’ So, how could I refuse? I’m not a childe abuser like some vampires.”

“I wasn’t a-”

Spike interrupted him, “Shush, my boy is talking.”

Xander had finally made it to the top of the box stack. He spread his arms out way, enjoying the cheers of his fellow vampires.

“Vampires, countrymen, lend me your eyes.” He grinned at Spike who in turn rolled his eyes at him. “Too long have you suffered from the tyranny of the slayer. But from this day on, you shall suffer no more. My sire and I have laid waste to her and her followers.” There was a loud cheer. “We killed her watcher, her witch, her wolf, and-” He motioned to himself. “We even killed her knight. All that is left is her vampire. When my sire kills him, vampires shall once again rule the Hellmouth, just as the Master did before us!”

Another loud cheer rose through the crowd and they began to chant “Kill Angelus!” Angel looked over the crowd which had turned against him, then at Xander. He grinned widely and gave Angel the thumbs down. Angel looked at Spike confused.

“I will admit the whelp has watched too many movies, but it’s affective. Has the crowd eating out of his hand,” Spike said. “Now, the thumbs down. That’s the sign that I get to kill you, right?”

“Come on, Spike. Are you going to let your childe rule you? Don’t you think that looks a little weak? What are all the vampires going to think when they learn that you’re childe whipped?”

Spike pulled out a stake from his pocket and thought over what Angel. Angel could tell he was just mocking him as he tossed the stake from one hand to the other.

“I don’t think they’ll think anything. They’ll be dust before they can think anything bad about my boy.”

Spike gripped the stake and lunged at Angel. Angel dodged and the crowd booed. He scowled and stole the stake from Spike’s hand. Spike pulled out another stake and the fight began a new. The crowd above watched the nearly evenly matched vampires. All eyes glued to the fight below, all cheering, booing, and wondering who will win.
