The following will explain some basics and give a preview.
I would love to have you join me. The story will start tomorrow
and run for 42 chapters.

Summary: A mysterious carnival appears on the outskirts of Sunnydale.
Despite the sudden disappearance of townspeople and pets, Xander is
intrigued and wants a closer look. What he gets is more than he could
have imagined.

This story is based on an idea by the lovely Mysticoblivion.

As always, thanks to the wonderful Petxnd for the banners that put the perfect
visual to my words.

Additional facts: This story follows no specific time in cannon. The gang is
still in their last year of high school. Buffy has just moved to town and in the
beginning of the story, Xander and Willow don't know that she is the slayer.

Spike and Angel are vampires but have never been to Sunnydale before and
neither vampire has a soul or a chip.

Confusing? I hope not. Give it a chance and you may decide it is o.k.

Preview

Xander stood off to the side in a darkened patch of the woods and he
watched. His eyes focused on the blur of colored lights that were strung like
long snakes throughout the length and breadth of the clearing. They twinkled
and flashed around the variety of booths, rides, displays and exhibits.

The sounds that drifted his way held him entranced. It was a combination
of music, blended with voices that cheered, laughed, shouted and promised
undefined mysteries and happiness.

Xander moved silently forward then ducked behind another tree. It had been
two days since the carnival had first rolled into town and he had been
captivated.
Although he had just turned 18, he found he suddenly felt like he was five
and his inner child bubbled with the exuberance of a Christmas morning.

You have my rapt attention. The teaser promises something dark and entrancing and wonderful. I cannot wait until tomorrow.

Incidentally a carnival worthy of Sunnyhell is a delightfully dark thought. "By the pricking of my thumbs..."

It will be noted in the story that traveling carnivals and circus'
have, for years, blacklisted Sunnydale, so you know this one
is no ordinary carnival.

Urrgh, that sounds as like as a Demon-Carnival, urrgh, and I guess when this fic has 42 chapter you will crash in the middle of the Carnival time in February in Düsseldorf, Köln and Mainz (City's in which they celebrate Karneval in Germany). But the is no demon-carnival (at least I think, I don't know for sure, I'm not so into the whole carnival-theme - the normal one - I mean). Yours - I mean Xander's carnival I want to read stat. All the 42 chappies, can't wait. Yeah and I know, I can't, I have to wait, I need to be patiently, and so on and so on. And I know it for sure, this time the waiting time from chapter to chapter will kill me. *sigh*

I would hate for the anxiety to kill you. I promise the
chapters will be shoveled out daily. Now you will wonder
when the carnivals come to your town if they are evil or not.

I hope so too. It has been HORRIBLE here. So far we have
been lucky. Power outages all around us but we are still
up and running.
