As always, thanks to the wonderful Petxnd for the banners that put the perfect
visual to my words.

When he returned to the bed, Drusilla threw her arms around his neck and
began to hum and sway. Angelus embraced her lovingly and joined her in
the slow dance to the tune only she could hear.

"Daddy shouldn't have been so mean to our little Slayer."

Angelus kissed her neck and ran his hands down her back to cup her
small round ass.

"And why is that, My Love?"

"Because she came to warn us."
"Oh? warn us of what?"

Drusilla pressed her breasts against his strong chest.

"The Indians are about to circle the wagons. They bring fire and they
want to fight. Oh, dear, why can't we all just get along?"

Angelus chuckled.
"I don't know, My Sweet. I think it is time we moved on anyway, don't
you? This little town has not shown us the respect and open arms we
deserve. We will go find Spike and tell him to be ready."

Drusilla tucked her face in his neck and giggled.

"Our William lies with his new pet."

Angelus grinned and licked his lips.
"Ah, yes, the human. The boy. How lucky our William is. Well, then I
suppose there will be one more going with us."

Both vampires stopped dancing. They looked at one another and laughed.
A brand new pet was just the thing to liven up a boring eternity on earth.

"Buffy! Over here!"

Willow gushed with relief and ran when she saw her friend come from around
the row of worker's trailers. She could see that Buffy was concerned and looked
as though she had been crying.

"Oh, God, Buffy what's wrong? Did you find Jesse?

Buffy sniffed and shook her head.
"No, I didn't. I, um, looked all around but I haven't found anything. You?"

Willow shook her head.
"No, and to be honest, none of the human carnies I talked too seemed the
least bit concerned about a police drug raid. I tried to tell them they needed to
leave, but they just looked at me like I was crazy. What do we do now?"

Buffy shrugged,
"I don't know. Check your crystal and see which way it says Jesse is.
Let's forget about the carnies. They aren't our problem. Besides, I'm sure
when they see the fire they will head for the hills. We need to concentrate
on finding Jesse and get the hell out of here. Xander and Giles should be
here any minute now."

It sounded like a hell of a good plan to Willow so she dug the stone out of
her pocket. When she unfurled her fingers, a desperate sob left her lips
and she fell to her knees. The clear, pale, colorless piece of crystal tumbled
off her palm and landed in the grass.

Buffy stared at it. She looked at her heartbroken friend and she knew there
was no more reason to remain.

"Get up, Willow. We need to go. Now! Jesse is not here."

Willow sat where she was and wept pitifully into her hands.
"Where did he go? I don't understand what's happening. The light was
glowing just a minute ago. Buffy, where is he?"

Buffy grabbed Willow's arm. She knew by consorting with Angelus, she was
partly responsible for what ever evil was happening to them. She had been
a fool. Her selfish sexual pleasure had been more important than the job,
the destiny, that she was put on this earth to accomplish. Sadly, she still
loved him, but that would no longer prevent her from doing the right thing.

As she was jerked to her feet, Willow grabbed up the dead crystal, stumbled
and regained her balance as Buffy took off running, tugging Willow along.
Together they rushed to the Southern edge of the field. Both girls seeking the
security of the Watcher. It was nearly 5 and they knew he would be waiting.

When they arrived at the specific spot, they stopped, gasping and wheezing
to catch their breath, they looked all around. Buffy took a few steps into
the woods and back again.

"Where are they? Where the fuck are they?"

Willow spun in a full circle. Twice.
"I don't know! Buffy, what do we do?"

Buffy could feel her strength, confidence and determination returning. Whatever
damage Angelus had done by draining her was short lived and her Slayer recovery
had kicked in. It was just what she needed. They were not beat yet.

"Come on. Something must have held them up. There is no sense in staying here.
Let's go to Giles and see what is keeping them. We still have an hour till sunset.
We can get to his place, get the torches and return before the vampires rise.
Let's go"

It was a shot of positive energy to an overwhelmingly negative situation and
Willow felt a spark of hope. She pushed the hair out of her face and dropped the
crystal into her pocket. They had both caught their second wind and, together,
dashed off toward town.

With a surge of fear fueled adrenaline, Willow found she was able to almost keep
up with her friend who was blessed with Slayer speed and it took less than 15 minutes
to reach the courtyard of the Watcher. When they arrived, they spotted him frantically
trying to assemble the equipment they would need for the mission.

It was immediately clear why he was taking so long. He was working alone.

"Giles. Where is Xander?"

Giles slammed a rag tipped torch down on his patio table in frustration and concern.

"You tell me. He never showed. I rang his house and spoke to his Mother.
I'm afraid she was slightly inebriated, but the gist of it is that he apparently
left the house quite a while ago and she hasn't seen him since. Have either
of you seen him or spoken to him?"

Both girls shook their heads.

Giles stopped what he was doing.

"And your friend? Jesse?"

Again their silence was his answer.

"All right then, we have no more time to waste. Buffy, help me finish these
for the fire, and Willow, you go inside and reset the crystal with another
location spell. This time, set it to find Xander, and be quick about it."

Willow rushed off to do as she was told.
