"Shut up Wes and get me off of here!" Xander shouted. "Open the book Wes, open the book and read the inscription, it's the only way to stop him." Spike reached up and took an ancient sword from a statue's hand. He bounded down the steps and leapt on to a gravestone and jumped over the kneeling priests, they stopped chanting and the fog cleared. Angelus mounted the steps striding towards Wes, his priests rose up and attacked Spike with swords and knives Spike hacked at them fighting to try and reach Xander. "Open the book Wes!" Xander shouted desperately. Wes fumbled with the book twisting and turning it trying with all his strength to pull it open, then he saw the lock, the same lock as on the sarcophagus, coffin and The Book of The Dead. "Xander," he called frantically. "I need the key."
"Angelus has it in his robes." Xander replied. Wes glanced up to see Angelus almost on top of him, he turned and ran.
Spike cut down the priests and reached the altar, he swung his sword at Xander and it hit one of the shackles holding his wrist and it broke with a clang. Angelus turned urging his priests to fight on. Xander struggled against his shackles, Spike swung the sword again and broke one of the shackles holding his ankle. Xander had more leverage and managed to pull the other ankle free, but he was still held by one wrist. Spike fought on hacking down the priests and finally he beheaded the last one. He shouldered the sword grinning. "Mummies," he scoffed. He raised the sword to break the last shackle grinning at Xander. A Mummy grabbed him round the ankles and pulled him off his feet, dropping the sword. The Mummy had no legs but it hung onto him, other bits of Mummy piled on top holding him down, desperately he reached for his sword but it was just out of reach, a Mummy's hand crawled toward it. The headless Mummy grasped a heavy gravestone and shuffled toward Spike intent on smashing it down on his head. Xander shouted a warning and Spike struggled to reach his sword. One of the Mummy's held him round the throat and gnawed on his ear, Spike howled and watched in horror as the Mummy's hand closed around his sword. As the hand gripped the sword, Spike grasped the severed arm and swung the sword cutting the Mummy holding the gravestone off at the knees, the weight of the stone sent it toppling backward. Spike staggered to is feet and swung at the last shackle freeing Xander and grabbing his hand.
Wes staggered into view pursued by Angelus. "What do I do? What I do?" He asked frantically.
"Read the inscription on the cover!" Xander yelled. Wes dodged Angelus's grasping hand and disappeared down one of the passageways. "Keetash-something, naraba-something. Ebarra im hatu Kashka ummmmm -- ?" The walls flew open and out marched a small army of warriors armed with spears, swords and shields. Angelus grinned, Spike gawped. "Bloody Hell, this just keeps getting better and better." He raised his sword. "In the unlikely event we survive, remind me to kill Wes."
Wes reappeared, luckily Angelus had his back turned, he saw what he'd done. "Oh dear," he mumbled. The warriors lined up waiting for orders.
"Do something Wes!"
"Finish the inscription and then you'll be the one commanding them."
Angelus turned and glared at him, Wes ran again.
Suddenly Xan-uk-amun rose up and grabbed at Xander and dragged him away from Spike, Angelus ran back towards them. "Kill him!" He ordered and the warriors advanced on Spike.
Xander fought off Xan-uk-amun and the mummy began to chase him round and round the altar, Spike stood his ground and roared at the warriors, they roared back. He shook his head and made a run for it, warrriors leaping after him.
"Ummm, Hootash im... Hootash im now what is this last symbol here?" Wes fumbled badly under the pressure.
"What's it look like?" Xander shouted.
Xan-uk-amun grabbed Xander and tried to strangle him. "Y'know you're making it very difficult for me to be sympathetic here," he croaked. "Ah! Ah! Ahmenophus!" He broke Xan-uk-amun's grasp and ran, the Mummy picked up the sacrificial knife and ran after him. "Hurry up Wes!" Xander urged.
Spike turned and faced the warriors, they vastly outnumbered him and began to close in, spears raised.
"Oh yes I see." Wes grinned. "Hootash im Ahmenophus!" The warriors froze. Angelus let out a shriek of rage. "Kill him, kill him!" The warriors didn't obey and lined up awaiting orders. Spike bounded down the steps looking for Xander, who was trapped in the passageway struggling with Xan-uk-amun who was intent on killing him.
Wes suddenly realised what he must do. "Keetash naraba. Ebarra im hatu Kashka pared noos Xan-uk-amun." The warriors sprang into life and began to pour into the passageways looking for Xan-uk-amun.
A look of horror passed over Angelus face and he ran forward. "Xan-uk-amun!" He screamed. In the passageway, Xan-uk-amun raised the knife to kill Xander when he was yanked away by the warrriors, Xander turned his head away as the shrieking Mummy was hacked to pieces and trampled into the sand.
Bellowing with grief and rage Angelus turned on Wes, he dropped the book and backed away straight into a wall. Angelus grabbed him by his right hand round the throat and lifted him from the ground. "Now you die!" He snarled. Wes kicked his legs and clawed at the hand. Spike ran towards them and swung his sword and severed Angelus's right arm and Wes fell to the ground. "Now let's see how tough you are with one arm. " Spike quipped.
Angelus grabbed him round the throat and tossed him several yards onto the earth. Spike shook his head to clear it. "Alright, so you're left handed."
Xander ran into the chamber just as Wes picked himself up, he looked at the ground, there was the key, Angelus dropped it when he tossed Spike.
Wes jumped up and down with excitement. "Xander, Xander, I've got the key!"
